Yes, it did remind me of a 1960s teen movie that had blatant product placement, but I imagine that was an homage to the blatant commercialism of the original series. I do have a response to your comment about the final battle scene where Sam uses the All-Spark on Megatron. With all of the trash-talk and dirty jokes, I found it embarassing that the writers would try to inject a moral dilemma. I think that Optimus feared Megatron could survive the overload and use the All-Spark. Expecting 13 year olds to be able to make that kind of connection is unrealistic.
