Five Minutes To Kill (Yourself)

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

At my old job, there were many times where I wanted to just stab my eyes out with a pen so I can get out of working there.

This game is based on the premise that you work a shitty office job that you’re tired of. And holy, could I have used this back then!

Let’s Talk Gaming

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

I have been playing a lot of different games lately. Here’s the list:

TMNT (Wii)
Tiger Woods ‘07 (Wii)
Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii)

I’m having lots of fun with TMNT. Saw the movie a few weekends ago at a preview screening and thought it was excellent. Unfortunately not a lot of other reviewers agree with me. I guess they just don’t get it or are otherwise too cool to have actually enjoyed it. Ah well!

Cowabunga Dude!

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

There were Ninja Turtles hanging around Union Station today. They were shouting at people. At first I thought it was a bunch of stupid kids, but it was those accursed Turtles! Damn them! Daaaaamn!

In other Turtle news, Teletoon’s been playing back-to-back episodes all week. Today I saw that Krang has several other members of his species. Talk about creepy.

DETHKLOK! DETHKLOK! DETHKLOK! DETHKLOK!

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Adam introduced me to a hilarious Adult Swim cartoon called Metalocalypse, which is about a the most powerful force on Earth, a metal band called Dethklok. The show is completely absurd, as one would expect from the Adult Swim line-up.

I’ve been playing a lot of Wii lately. Not just Wii games, but also the downloadable Virtual Console titles. So far I’ve purchased R-TYPE, Bomberman ‘93, Street Fighter II, and Super Mario 64. They’re all great games and it’s pretty cool to be able to play the TurboGrafx-16 titles, since I never had that system. I still have my copy of R-TYPE for the Sega Master System (I actually have 2 copies of it) but the TG-16 one kicks its ass.

Other games I’m currently playing include The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess (Wii version) and Elite Beat Agents (DS). Elite Beat Agents is a rhythm-based game that has you using the stylus to tap sequential circles all over the screen to the beat of the music. But it’s not just tapping. Every now and then you’ll have to slide the stylus back and forth along guide lines - some of which are curved or zig-zagged. It can be quite challenging on its medium difficulty and also frustrating at times. I swore I was going to lose my shit if I had to hear Chicago’s “You’re the Inspiration” one more time. The song selection is piss poor but there are several gems that make up for it: Bowie’s “Let’s Dance,” Jamioquai’s “Canned Heat,” Earth, Wind and Fire’s, “September,” and the always-rockin’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” by The Rolling Stones.

And speaking of always rockin’, work is going exceptionally well. We’re very busy these days but since the stuff I work on is all cartoon, game, and toy related, it’s a lot of fun. There are tonnes of perks to my job. I keep getting free stuff just about every week. One of the most recent ones is that I got the DVD set of the first season of Venture Bros. free! I can’t say enough good things about work - or the Venture Bros., for that matter. I would have never thought that as I grew older, the shows I would love the most would be more and more cartoons and less live-action. In fact, with the exception of House, I don’t watch any current live-action television (though I may start catching up on Heroes).
