Electric Six

Tonight I finally completed my Electric Six album collection. Sick of going to different music stores to find that placed did not carry their albums, I decided to pick up the two remaining albums I needed over the iTunes store. The upside is that it was half the price of getting the albums in store. The bad news? Well I can just drag the files onto my Creative Zen W to listen to because the files are protected for iTunes and iPods only.

If you work for a company that attempts to restrict the distribution rights of what you sell, know this: As a paying customer, I expect to use my purchase however the fuck I want to, and neither you nor anyone else is going to stop me. DRM is bullshit that you’re wasting your time, money, and thought power on. If you find a way to stop someone from doing something, someone will find a way to get around your pithy roadblocks. I bought the damn music so I’m going to listen to it however and whenever I please.

Really? Wow that is total BS! I had no idea that itunes was atempting to restrict the music they sell to be played only using iPod or iTunes…what a joke.

Yeah pretty shitty deal. They let you burn CDs from the songs though, so one way around the usage restriction is to burn a CD and then rip it back to your computer as a regular mp3. There are also programs that convert the files with minimal audio quality loss.
